Objective
The aim of the policy Is to provide employees and Managers/Supervisors with information and guidelines regarding employees’ probationary period.
Definitions
Probation period is usually a six-month period at the commencement of employment during which the employee Is assessed as to whether they will be suitable for the role of the business, after which a decision will be made to either continue with the role or terminate employment.
Responsibilities
1. WHS Officer
- Advise managers when probationary meeting should be conducted.
- Advise employees when they have successfully completed their probationary period
- Maintain a record of probationary documentation.
2. Managers
- Conduct probationary meeting with employee within a designated time frame.
- Monitoring staff performance during probationary period
- Mentoring/Coaching employees to further develop their skills and knowledge.
- Discuss goals, objective, and progress
3. Employees
- Participate and cooperate in probationary discussions
Procedures
Setting Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
Managers/Supervisors will meet with employee during training week. During training week, the Managers/Supervisors should set out their expectations and explain how KPI will be measured.
Monitoring Performance
Over the course of the probationary period, the Manager/Supervisor should maintain records to enable them to provide feedback to the employee.
Manager/Supervisor will mentor/coach the employee and also provide regular feedback about the employee’s performance during the course of the probationary period.
Breach of Policy
Strathfield Sports Club has an obligation to consistently apply and enforce this policy. Employee must understand and comply with this policy. Any employee who breaches this policy shall be subject to counselling, training, and/or disciplinary action, which may include termination of employment.
